Dr Tan Kai Lit is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinician with KL Tan Clinic & Surgery for Women. Since 1 February 2020, Dr Tan was also appointed the Head of the Fetal Assessment and Ultrasound Department at Thomson Medical Pte Ltd (TMPL). Dr Tan also practices at Thomson Women’s Clinic (Punggol).
Dr Tan has been in medical practice since 2003. Prior to joining Thomson Medical Centre, he has served at various hospitals comprising Whittington Hospital (London), National University Hospital Singapore and most recently KK Womens and Childrens Hospital where he was a Consultant and Adjunct Assistant Professor. He held teaching positions in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) by Singhealth, he pursued further training in Fetal Medicine, in particular fetoscopy/fetal intervention in Hospital Clinic Barcelona, Spain, an eminent centre internationally. There, he honed his skills in fetal echocardiography, neurosonography, prenatal diagnosis, fetal surgical pathologies, multiple pregnancies and growth restriction.
He is also trained in gynaecological open and laparoscopic surgery.
Dr Tan was involved in extensive obstetric research projects in obstetrics and gynaecology. Awarded the National Medical Research Council award, he looked into the correlation of reduction in growth velocity with perinatal outcomes.
Dr Tan is fluent in English, Chinese, Malay and Bahasa Indonesia. To unwind, he enjoys running, swimming and playing the guitar and drums.
